2014 didn’t start off so well for me and my sweet Gazelle, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer. It hasn’t been easy enduring the ups and downs…we found comfort and support from my wonderful Specialized Care team, numerous vets and so many friends and family who helped us navigate these past months, weeks and days. Unfortunately on March 5, I had to let Gazelle go, holding her paw as she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It was heartbreaking. I will be forever grateful for the love she gave me and all the happy memories. I was truly blessed to have such a great companion for 11 years.
Throughout my career I have learned how to guide pet parents when they’re faced with a shocking diagnosis just like I was. That is why I created our Specialized Care division because I realized that the average person needed guidance to help care for their sick pet. Now that pet parent was me and Gazelle was my sick dog.
I think it’s important to share our journey not only for my own heart & mind but hopefully it could help another family in a similar place. I have recorded our vet visits, special needs and alternative therapy experiences, diet combinations, our palliative steps and our goodbyes…
